ACA Level 1-3 whitewater kayaking instructor workshop

Want to learn to teach whitewater kayaking? This is the course for you! This course will be taught over the course of 4 days in flatwater and up to Class II whitewater. You will learn how to teach basic strokes, wet exits, eddy turns, peel outs, and ferrying as well as learn and demonstrate some basic boat rescue skills. A Level 1-3 certification is possible throughout this course, depending on your skill level. Please see the following links for criteria and course content:

Prerequisites:

Participants must be Adobe Whitewater Club Members. Join or renew here for $15/year.
Participants must also be American Canoe Association (ACA) members in order to participate. Membership is $40/year.
Participants must be very comfortable paddling Class II and be able to demonstrate the steps of a wet exit. A roll is not required for a Level 2 certification but is strongly recommended; a roll is required for a Level 3 certification. See above criteria for more information.

Clinic Cost: $250.00 for the full workshop

$50.00 for recertification only (offered 9/22, up to L4)

This cost is less than half of market price, which we at Adobe are very happy to be able to provide for our members!

Instructors who successfully complete this course are eligible for reimbursement of their First Aid/CPR certification (up to $30, can be completed online) and SEIC instructor dues ($35) once they have taught either 4 pool sessions or 2 weekend clinics for the Adobe Whitewater Club over a 2 year period.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Delta variant, we are taking extra precautions. We recommend that all participants follow CDC and New Mexico Department of Health guidelines by getting vaccinated, masking up, and avoiding close contact with other participants unless it is absolutely necessary. If you are feeling unwell, have been exposed, or show any symptoms of Covid-19 on or shortly before the clinic, please stay home. We ask that you please bring a mask to wear during shuttles, which will be driven with the windows down.
