AWC Introduction to Hardshell River Kayaking

Introduction to Hard Shell River Kayaking will provide the first step in using basic paddle strokes to enter River Kayaking. .  The course will cover basic equipment, safety, reading the river, and techniques for running and playing on class II rivers.  Participants will gain experience with maneuvering their boats in current, practice whitewater techniques on easy water, and gain an understanding of assessing skills, river, and environmental conditions that go towards a fun and successful day on the water.

Clinic Cost: $40.00

ACA (American Canoe Association) Event Insurance: $10/person for non-ACA members (this is mandatory!!) A parent or guardian must sign the waiver for anyone under the age of 18.

If you are an ACA member, event insurance is included in your membership. Please provide your ACA membership number in the form when registering.

Equipment needed: Kayak, paddle, spray skirt, type III PFD, whitewater helmet (bicycle helmets not allowed), whistle, footwear that will protect your feet (no flip-flops), appropriate clothing for cold water and changing conditions, lunch/snacks, water, sun protection, a change of clothes.
